Shindig: A Good Time For A Good Cause

By Sara Hill

Dream Big!

We hear it so often but are we really brave enough to do it? I’ll admit that I’m not… but I did let a certain suggested goal for the 2015 Shindig seep into my head and my heart this year, and by God’s grace, the goal was met. It was actually exceeded!

So without further ado, together with our underwriters, sponsors, donors and partygoers, we are able to give the Bergheim Volunteer Fire Department $435,000.00!

Personally, I’d like to thank my co-chair Amy Ogden for her unwavering help and support. The 2015 Shindig committee is a strong and able group of ladies and one brave man! I’d put this group up against any other to plan an event and raise a great amount of money! And our Board: these ladies have hearts of gold for God and our community. They spend countless hours of thought and prayer to guide the CRS Corp in good faith and stewardship. I appreciate their trust and guidance, and the opportunity to lead Shindig.

I can’t say enough great things about the staff at Cordillera. This crew is the best! They are an amazing team and were always willing to help in every capacity. Together with the Event Ignition and Illusions, we pulled off an amazing event. I am forever grateful. Poolside at the Clubs of Cordillera provided the perfect backdrop for the 2015 Shindig. You can’t outdo God’s beauty or provide a more perfect setting than Cordillera Ranch.

Finally, I send a sincere thank you to our guests whose generosity and support contribute to Shindig’s success. This was truly a community of people who rallied behind a cause and made great things happen.

Kendall County will reap the benefits for years to come from what we accomplished on May 2, 2015. Thank you all for coming together to have a great time, for a great cause, that will make a great difference!

The Cordillera Ranch Shindig Board and Committee would like to extend a sincere thank you to our Trifecta Underwriters. Because of your support and generosity, we presented the Bergheim Volunteer Fire Department with a check for $435,000.

Where Do You Spend Your Time?

I recently read a story retold by the father of a young family of three that included himself, his wife and their young daughter. According to his recounting, after dinner they were each challenged to share an object symbolic of how they would describe one another to a stranger. When it was the daughter’s turn to share the item she thought to be representative of her father, she produced a cell phone. At her young age, she wasn’t taking a sarcastic “shot” at her dad, rather, it was how she truly saw him when he was home.
