The-Legacy-Cup---Full-Color

The Legacy Cup at Cordillera Ranch

Cordillera Ranch will be hosting the 2nd Annual Legacy Cup Pro-Am September 27-29. We are extremely excited and honored to host this event as it will give us the opportunity to once again showcase our great Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course and all that the Club and community have to offer. Club professionals from some of the finest facilities in Texas, Oklahoma and Louisiana will be bringing three amateurs to participate in a two-day tournament. Teams will play a practice round on Sunday, September 27 before competing over the next two days in a Team Quota format. The field will consist of 18-22 teams and there is a professional purse as well as team prizes. Ryan Polzin captured Low Professional honors last year with scores of 72-70. Participants will be staying at the Eilan Hotel & Spa in The Rim. Martin/Fennec apparel is the title sponsor of the event and will provide a great tee-gift package and support of the tournament. It should be a special event for everyone involved.

September Tournaments

September marks the return of a busy tournament schedule here at the Club. Both the Men’s Senior Club Championship and Ladies Club Championship take place this month. These events have continued to grow in popularity as they are a great way to test your skill as well as a chance to meet some different players that may not be part of your regular group. Both Gross and Net prizes are awarded. Jarratt Jones is the defending champion in the Men’s Senior and has won the event all eight times it has been played.  Isabelle Mumford won the Ladies Championship last year and will be defending her title this year and gunning for her third straight title.

MGA Cup Final

The MGA Cup Final takes place in early October and is the culmination of our members qualifying for the event by playing in various Club events throughout the year. The Cup Final will have the Top 40 players participating in a one-day Stableford competition. Jerry Merck is the defending champion and in good position heading into the Final.

10th Annual C-Star Member-Guest

The 10th Annual C-Star Member-Guest is the highlight event at the Club each year and will take place October 15-17. The format will once again be the five 9-hole matches that allow for great camaraderie for everyone playing. We have a very special and unique event planned for all of the participants this year. After the practice round on Thursday, we will be heading to Dave Pelz’s “World’s Greatest Backyard” and “Golfer’s Paradise” to experience his incredible short-game area. The tournament continues to showcase the spectacular lifestyle here at the Ranch and I hope you will consider playing in the future.

See you on the course,

Challenges. Opportunities. Moving Forward.

Fall has been a busy season for the Agronomy team. This important season kicks off after all the fun of the Ladies’ Ranch Roundup, when we begin our greens aerification process. At the conclusion of this process in October, we have now seen the extraordinary benefit of the deep vertical slicing (Graden device) coupled with the normal aerification of punching holes and backfilling with sand.

Bees and Golf Courses

A long-standing interest of mine has been the benefits of using honey and bee keeping. I have enjoyed honey since I was a child and there are many benefits of having honey in your diet. Honey contains a variety of nutrients, it’s rich in antioxidants and is better for blood sugar levels than regular sugar. Research has shown it to promote heart health, promote burn and wound healing, and help suppress coughing with children.

Amanda Naranjo

Ever since I can remember, I’ve been around the game of golf. From watching golf tournaments on TV with my family to going out to the driving range with my dad during my High School years while on the Golf Team, everything I associate with golf has been positive. I decided to attend the University of the Incarnate Word and major in Fashion Merchandising with a concentration in Business. Fusing both my passion for fashion and love for the game of golf, the golf merchandising path was the perfect path for me.
