Best of Boernefest 2013

The Boerne Chamber, the City of Boerne, the Hill Country Mile, and the Hill Country Council for the Arts are holding the 2nd Annual BEST of BOERNEFEST: BLOCK PARTY May 17-19, 2013 on and around Boerne’s Main Plaza and the surrounding area. This year’s event is underwritten by Security Service Federal Credit Union.

Building on the momentum from the 2012 BOERNEFEST, attended by more than 3,000 people, this high visibility festival captures the imagination of both visitors and the broad range of Hill Country residents as it explores the synergy of culture, community and commerce.

In striking contrast to the 2012 BOERNEFEST that ran for five hours this past May, the 2013 event will begin on Friday evening under the stars with a free concert featuring Two Tons of Steel on Boerne’s historic Main Plaza and continue on with a range of festivities on both Saturday and Sunday.

SATURDAY
Then Saturday kicks off with a BLOCK PARTY on the streets encircling Boerne’s Main Plaza, and will feature a Business Showcase and Art Exhibition, with dozens of activities for everyone. Business booths will meander up the street, interspersed with live entertainment, food, beverages, displays and activities.

There will also be art exhibits on Waterworks Terrace where Boerne’s talented local artists will be exhibiting their work, giving demonstrations and sharing their passion for Boerne with visitors until 5 p.m.
Also check out The Heart of Boerne Trail between Ye Kendall Inn and down toward the Boerne Wine Company. This will be the site of more art exhibits and displays, children’s activities and fitness stations.  Also look for partnerships on Main Plaza among the artists and area non-profit organizations who are collaborating on ways to help charitable groups better serve their clients.

Saturday evening you can attend a second free concert by Gary P. Nunn.

Sunday ends the festival with an Art Waddle through the Flats and a free faith-based musical concert on Main Plaza.
