Happy New Year!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and Holiday Season! While we have much to look forward to in the upcoming year, 2023 certainly was a year to remember at the Club so I thought I would take a look back and share a few of the highlights.

Who can forget the fire that started at the Club in late February?! While it created devastation to the PDR and damage to the MDR, we were so fortunate to not have anyone hurt. The local fire stations were fantastic in their response, and it was remarkable to see our own team of employees jump in and do everything possible to lessen the blow and keep the Clubhouse from further damage. Thank you to all of our members for their patience as we worked through getting back open in phases for dining and for their support during that time.

The golf course was once again in fantastic shape under the leadership of Director of Agronomy Stuart Rowland. His team faced record heat and drought conditions throughout the summer and worked tirelessly to keep the greens and golf course in excellent shape. Katie Dillard continued her strong Player Development Program for juniors and in the fall was named the Club’s Director of Instruction so congratulations to her!

The Fitness and Spa program saw continued growth with a couple of new Personal Trainers now on board. It has been fun to watch Tamra Christiansen’s growth as the director of that area. She continues to look for new offerings and is always thinking outside the box for ways to keep our members in shape!

I am thankful to have Michael McLellan as the Director of Food and Beverage and the feedback I continue to receive on his behalf has been very positive. Chef Isaac and the culinary team have been rock stars and, of course, are looking forward to the new kitchen.

I am not sure how pickleball continues to grow at a record pace but somehow it does! It has been great to see so many people playing at all hours of the day on the new courts that were opened in 2022. It is a game that can be played by people of all ages and is very social.

We are all looking forward to the opening of the new Cabana next month! It is going to be a special venue that will offer a slightly different dining experience and, of course, offer another special event space for all of our members to utilize. The kitchen expansion is well underway and will provide some much-needed space, and is being installed with new state-of-the-art equipment.

We hope to see you at the Club soon and, as always, please let us know if we can do anything to make your experience here even better. Wishing all of you a wonderful year full of good health and happiness!

Challenges. Opportunities. Moving Forward.

Fall has been a busy season for the Agronomy team. This important season kicks off after all the fun of the Ladies’ Ranch Roundup, when we begin our greens aerification process. At the conclusion of this process in October, we have now seen the extraordinary benefit of the deep vertical slicing (Graden device) coupled with the normal aerification of punching holes and backfilling with sand.

Bees and Golf Courses

A long-standing interest of mine has been the benefits of using honey and bee keeping. I have enjoyed honey since I was a child and there are many benefits of having honey in your diet. Honey contains a variety of nutrients, it’s rich in antioxidants and is better for blood sugar levels than regular sugar. Research has shown it to promote heart health, promote burn and wound healing, and help suppress coughing with children.

Ever since I can remember, I’ve been around the game of golf. From watching golf tournaments on TV with my family to going out to the driving range with my dad during my High School years while on the Golf Team, everything I associate with golf has been positive. I decided to attend the University of the Incarnate Word and major in Fashion Merchandising with a concentration in Business. Fusing both my passion for fashion and love for the game of golf, the golf merchandising path was the perfect path for me.
