Welcome to the first edition of Cordillera Ranch Living for 2014.  We typically use the roll of the calendar to a New Year to re-assess and refocus on goals and new opportunities.  At Cordillera that entails several new areas of development in the community that are underway which offer some of the best new lot and home opportunities that we’ve had in years.  You can read more about these in the developer article of this magazine or contact our visitor center for more details at 830.336.3570.
welcome1    One additional new initiative for 2014 is to better capture in photos and video the wildlife and natural scenery in Cordillera Ranch.  We have such a diverse and stunning landscape with such an array of animals roaming the area including whitetail deer, axis, fallow, sika, porcupines, turkey, fox and many different birds.  I’d like to encourage you send in your photographs by email to info@cordilleraranch.com or upload them to our facebook page and we will include them periodically in sections of the magazine.  The photos can be shot with iPhones or fancy cameras; it doesn’t matter.  It can be scenery or wildlife – if it looks interesting and you can capture it please share with us.  Below are just a couple of the great landscape shots around the ranch.

Have a Happy and Prosperous New Year,

Charlie Hill
Vice President
Cordillera Ranch

Bees and Golf Courses

A long-standing interest of mine has been the benefits of using honey and bee keeping. I have enjoyed honey since I was a child and there are many benefits of having honey in your diet. Honey contains a variety of nutrients, it’s rich in antioxidants and is better for blood sugar levels than regular sugar. Research has shown it to promote heart health, promote burn and wound healing, and help suppress coughing with children.

I decided to attend the University of the Incarnate Word and major in Fashion Merchandising with a concentration in Business. Fusing both my passion for fashion and love for the game of golf, the golf merchandising path was the perfect path for me.
