Education

I studied Business and Public Relations at John A. Logan Community College and Illinois State University.

How did you get into your field?

I played high school and college golf. After a few desk jobs, I realized my main passion had to do with the game of golf and its surroundings. I have been in the golf
business since 2001 and continue to enjoy it every day.

How long have you been with Cordillera Ranch?

I started April 9th of this year.

What is your favorite aspect of LIVING/working in the Hill Country?

My favorite aspect of working in the Hill Country has definitely been the people I have encountered both at work and also in the San Antonio community. Everyone seems to have a great attitude about life that is contagious. Only being here a month, my favorite activities have been finding new restaurants and touring San Antonio with my family. We are enjoying the historical significance of the city.

What are your hobbies/interests?

I enjoy just about all sporting events, especially in person. My wife and I share a love for music and hope to attend The Austin City Limits event this year. Also, my wife and I have become more and more interested in wine over the past few years. We are hoping to take a trip to Napa or Sonoma sometime in the next few years to really gain some knowledge.

What’s your favorite sport?

I really enjoy college basketball. March Madness is my favorite time of the year.

Favorite sporting event you’ve attended?

The 2009 Major League Baseball All-Star game in St. Louis.

Favorite quote?

When tempted to fight fire with fire, remember that the Fire Department uses water.

Favorite movie and why?

Caddyshack … if you have to ask why, you probably haven’t seen it.

What has been your greatest challenge in your business?

The greatest challenge has always been the time away from my family. In the golf business, holidays and weekends are typically the busiest times of the operation, so it requires the most attention from an employee standpoint.

What has been your most rewarding experience in your business?

The relationships that I have made and maintained over the years from the golf business have definitely been the most rewarding. I have friends from ten years ago that I met through golf that live 1000 miles away from me but we still stay in touch.

Favorite aspect or feature at Cordillera Ranch?

The incredible views from the golf course. It really makes hitting a bad golf shot easier to handle!

Anything else that no one knows about you that would like to share?

My favorite memories growing up were listening to St. Louis Cardinal baseball games on the radio while my dad and grandpa cooked on the bbq grill in the back yard.

Birding in Cordillera Ranch

Bird watching can be a joyful experience. The sounds of birds frolicking outside your Cordillera Ranch home can be a great addition to your garden and landscape. Bird feeders are the quickest and easiest way to attract our winged friends to your yard. If you have ever visited the Outfitter Center at Cordillera Ranch, you’ll have no doubt about how much I enjoy feeding birds and having them around the entire year.

Manager's Message

Wow, what a time of year!

Spring never disappoints, with warmer weather, longer days and prettier everything, it’s easy to feel a sense of rejuvenation and rebirth during these splendid months. While we’re only a handful of months into the year, and there’s a feeling of a fresh start, it also feels as though some things are coming to conclusion.

Play-A-Hole #7

The 7th hole at Cordillera Ranch is our second Par-3 that you will encounter and can look pretty daunting from the tee. The green slopes away from you and to the right while being guarded by a large bunker on the front/right side and a couple of bunkers on the left side. In case you thought long was safe … it’s not — there’s another bunker there, too!
