Featured November/ December Wineries
In addition to the Cellar Club we will be partnering with wineries and showcasing their wines around the club.  For the months of November and December we will be featuring two giants from Napa: David Arthur Vineyards and Hill Family Estates.

The David Arthur wines are produced with a dedication to crafting dynamic, complex vintages. With every bottling comes a commitment to producing distinctive wines with a focus on vineyard site-expression and structure, a benchmark of David Arthur Vineyards’ winemaking philosophy.

In 2008, Nile Zacherle joined David Arthur Vineyards as winemaker. “Nile is the ideal compliment to our team at David Arthur,” says David Long, cofounder of David Arthur Vineyards. “His passion for excellence and crafting wines of quality and structure coincides with our philosophy and vision.”

After three decades of farming grapes for some of Napa Valley’s finest wine producers, Doug Hill and the family decided that their family should enter the wine business.  Hill Family Estate was born out of the desire for the family to work together; sharing the experience of crafting fine wines that showcased the grapes that Doug farmed and then introducing those wines to the consumer at a tasting room in their hometown and American foodie capital, Yountville, California.  Doug farms the grapes and helps craft the wine and Ryan Hill runs the sales division, working hard to get the Hill Family Estate wines placed in select accounts for you to enjoy.  Carly Hill lives and works in San Diego and hosts tastings and dinners in Southern California while Darci Hill can be found at the tasting room, with Jack (the dog) by her side, tending to the flowers and enhancing our curb appeal.  Hill Family Estate is the culmination of Doug’s vision – a way to share his love of the valley, farming and wine with his children and wine lovers everywhere.

Both David Long and Ryan Hill will be visiting us in the spring of 2012 for a fantastic laid back wine dinner. Make sure to look for the save the date announcement because this one of a kind event will surely sell out!

Cheers!

Challenges. Opportunities. Moving Forward.

Fall has been a busy season for the Agronomy team. This important season kicks off after all the fun of the Ladies’ Ranch Roundup, when we begin our greens aerification process. At the conclusion of this process in October, we have now seen the extraordinary benefit of the deep vertical slicing (Graden device) coupled with the normal aerification of punching holes and backfilling with sand.

Bees and Golf Courses

A long-standing interest of mine has been the benefits of using honey and bee keeping. I have enjoyed honey since I was a child and there are many benefits of having honey in your diet. Honey contains a variety of nutrients, it’s rich in antioxidants and is better for blood sugar levels than regular sugar. Research has shown it to promote heart health, promote burn and wound healing, and help suppress coughing with children.

I decided to attend the University of the Incarnate Word and major in Fashion Merchandising with a concentration in Business. Fusing both my passion for fashion and love for the game of golf, the golf merchandising path was the perfect path for me.
