Cordillera Cares: Helping Families Have a Wonderful Christmas

FALL CLOTHING DRIVE

Cordillera Cares has a close working relationship with Hill Country Family Services, and the mutual support has been very beneficial. Recently, we reached out to Cordillera Ranch residents and staff to donate new and gently used clothing to support their resale shop, Random Hangers. And boy did everybody show up! We collected a trailer full of donations. Random Hangers has some great finds, so the next time you are in Boerne, stop by and take a look at their merchandise at 118 West Advogt. The children’s clothing will be sold at Fabulous Finds Thrift Store at 934 N. School St. to support Kendall County Women’s Shelter. The staff at both stores were thrilled to receive this large and quality donation.

If you have more to donate, please consider these two great organizations who serve so many in our county who are in crisis. You can find more information at HCFSTX.org and KCWSTexas.org.

BLUE SANTA IS COMING!

In 2022, Cordillera Cares partnered with the Kendall County Sheriff’s Foundation Blue Santa program. Last year, 575 children received new Christmas toys with the assistance of the Kendall County Sheriff’s office, local businesses and individuals. Cordillera Cares was honored to have supplied every one of those children with a Christmas stocking full of age-appropriate toys thanks to the donations of our Club members and staff. We also had an overwhelming response from residents and employees volunteering their time to help stuff stockings and distribute at the Blue Santa event.

This year, the Blue Santa program is looking to expand their support to include children in Comfort, Boerne’s neighboring town. Our new goal for 2023 will be to sponsor 700 stockings!

On Wednesday, November 29, Cordillera Cares will be accepting donations from all who wish to sponsor stockings. Each stocking will be stuffed with at least $25 worth of toys, socks, winter hats, puzzles, games and goodies based on age group and gender.

This will be Cordillera Cares’ largest philanthropic project of the year. We look forward to all the camaraderie we will enjoy through shopping, stuffing, sponsoring and supporting these Kendall County kids and the Sheriff’s Foundation.

Please join us at our annual Ugly Christmas Sweater Gold Rush on Wednesday, November 29 from 5:30 to 7:30pm in the Main Clubhouse lobby to pledge stockings for children this holiday season!

SANTA’S WORKSHOP – STOCKING STUFFING!

We need elves to stuff all these stockings! We will have multiple times and days for stuffing at the Cordillera Ranch Visitors Center. Watch for Club Members emails or contact us.

Birding in Cordillera Ranch

Bird watching can be a joyful experience. The sounds of birds frolicking outside your Cordillera Ranch home can be a great addition to your garden and landscape. Bird feeders are the quickest and easiest way to attract our winged friends to your yard. If you have ever visited the Outfitter Center at Cordillera Ranch, you’ll have no doubt about how much I enjoy feeding birds and having them around the entire year.

Manager's Message

Wow, what a time of year!

Spring never disappoints, with warmer weather, longer days and prettier everything, it’s easy to feel a sense of rejuvenation and rebirth during these splendid months. While we’re only a handful of months into the year, and there’s a feeling of a fresh start, it also feels as though some things are coming to conclusion.

Play-A-Hole #7

The 7th hole at Cordillera Ranch is our second Par-3 that you will encounter and can look pretty daunting from the tee. The green slopes away from you and to the right while being guarded by a large bunker on the front/right side and a couple of bunkers on the left side. In case you thought long was safe … it’s not — there’s another bunker there, too!
