HOW DID YOU GET INTO YOUR FIELD?
I grew up in a catering family which led me to a hotel as my first job. Now after 25 years I have worked in 4 Star hotels, 4 Star restaurants and the busiest nightclubs in the San Antonio area. I have been an opening associate and manager at 3 restaurants, a 4 star hotel and a private resort. I guess I have always had a true passion for food and beverage.

2 years

WHAT ARE YOUR HOBBIES/ INTERESTS?
I do a lot of reading, learning, teaching, tutoring and mentoring in my religious community.

There are two sports that I have enjoyed in my life, cycling and football.

FAVORITE SPORTING EVENT YOU’VE ATTENDED?
Many years ago I was a nationally ranked junior cyclist. I was 6th in the state of Texas which qualified me to participate in the junior cycling road race in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. It was a great experience to deal with sponsorships and a fun family vacation. It was a sport that I shared with my closest supporter, my father.

FAVORITE QUOTE?
My favorite quote of all time comes from Pirkei Avot or Ethics of Our Fathers. It goes something like this, “He who is rich in the world is the one who is satisfied with his own possessions, be they many or few.” I have used this many times while bringing up my children and it helps remind me every day of how blessed I am.

FAVORITE MOVIE AND WHY?
The Green Berets. The Duke This was always a Dad and boys flick on Sundays before the Dallas Cowboys games.

WHAT HAS BEEN THE GREATEST CHALLENGE IN YOUR BUSINESS?
I am constantly searching for the hidden gems and diamonds in the rough which mean I taste a lot of wine. Trust me it is challenging!

WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR MOST REWARDING EXPERIENCE IN YOUR BUSINESS?
I have rewarding experiences every day but there is not a greater feeling than seeing bottles of wine on every table as well as being amped up because the atmosphere in the dining room and lounge is
so energetic.

Bees and Golf Courses

A long-standing interest of mine has been the benefits of using honey and bee keeping. I have enjoyed honey since I was a child and there are many benefits of having honey in your diet. Honey contains a variety of nutrients, it’s rich in antioxidants and is better for blood sugar levels than regular sugar. Research has shown it to promote heart health, promote burn and wound healing, and help suppress coughing with children.

Amanda Naranjo

Ever since I can remember, I’ve been around the game of golf. From watching golf tournaments on TV with my family to going out to the driving range with my dad during my High School years while on the Golf Team, everything I associate with golf has been positive. I decided to attend the University of the Incarnate Word and major in Fashion Merchandising with a concentration in Business. Fusing both my passion for fashion and love for the game of golf, the golf merchandising path was the perfect path for me.
