Owners Art Burdick and Alexia Herber are dedicated to designing the best homes in San Antonio and the Texas Hill Country, and sharing the Burdick Custom Homes reputation through a proven commitment to the community.

“One of the most important aspects of Burdick Custom Homes is our commitment to ‘share the reputation,’” begins Director of Client Relations Tracy Harris. Burdick Custom Homes became a Preferred Cordillera Ranch Builder for the team’s proven reputation for timeless architecture, commitment to quality and unparalleled service — leading to an unmatched standard of excellence in home design. However, this is only the start of their own reputation.

Over the last five decades, Chairman and CEO Art Burdick has built over 2,200 homes and developed over 1,250 residential lots, providing San Antonio and Boerne families with the best houses possible. With styles ranging from traditional to contemporary, the Burdick team believes the true measure of success is client satisfaction.

“We’ve had one family that we’ve built four houses for,” continues Harris. “That’s what our ‘share the reputation’ ideal is all about — we treat every client relationship like they will develop into lifelong partnerships. It is an honor to watch families go through different phases of life and share in their own reputations within the community. I am very proud of the rapport we build.”

It is clear to see that Cordillera Ranch holds a special place in the hearts of the Burdick team members. “We’ve always built in the best neighborhoods, but I know of none that are superior to Cordillera Ranch — it has some of the most impressive vistas in all of Texas,” says Burdick. Since the Burdick team strives to design timeless architecture that blends harmoniously into the landscape, it looks like the perfect match.

While the Burdick team designs homes that create a lasting impression, the real highlight is their commitment to accommodating each homeowner’s unique lifestyle through a highly collaborative build process. “The residents of Cordillera Ranch represent my second family,” adds Harris. “We love watching their dream homes come to life.” Harris’ knowledge of the community and the people who live there is instrumental in helping clients select the best lot for their needs in addition to introducing them to the Club amenities and their Cordillera neighbors.

However, for Art Burdick, it is not enough to build dream homes within a community, which is why he plays an active role in building a better San Antonio community at large. Burdick was part of the leadership team that brought the Spurs to San Antonio in 1974. Now, he serves on the Roy Maas Youth Alternatives Foundation, The Dominion Development Committee, the Board of Directors for the Greater San Antonio Builders Association and is a former president of the organization. His charitable builds include the Burdick Community Center in Boerne and Casa de Padres, a retirement community for Catholic priests. “Every couple of years, we pick a charity cause and go all in,” explains Harris. “It is an honor to share our reputation and give back to the community.”

Alexia Herber joined Burdick Custom Homes in 1998, was quickly promoted to Vice President of Operations and now leads the team as the company’s President. She and Art became business partners in 2014. She is a lifelong resident of Kendall County, has a BBA in Accounting from UTSA and is a Licensed Texas Real Estate Broker. Her 30+ years of construction and estimating experience enable her to assist with value engineering throughout the design process. “Maintaining exceptional customer service and the superior Burdick reputation is of the upmost importance to me and I believe we have an incredible team of people to facilitate that,” said Herber.

Burdick Custom Homes’ Latest Build in Clubs Village

The Burdick Custom Home team has their latest home under construction in Clubs Village on hole #12 of the Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course at Cordillera Ranch. The house is situated on a 1.037-acre lot with prime, elevated views of the fairway. “The location makes this house,” explains Harris. “The property has a clear view over four holes, but it feels private due to its elevation over the course. We also have other spec plans in design for golf, view and greenbelt lots.”

It’s clear to see that this 4,842-square-foot home was designed with avid golfers and outdoor enthusiasts in mind. The home features a four-car garage so residents are sure to have enough room for their entire toy collection. Outdoor spaces include a private front courtyard, massive covered back patio, outdoor kitchen, pool, spa, sunken outdoor seating and fire pit. “You can see the golf course from the pool,” says Harris. “What more could you want?”

The outside of the home features classic materials applied in a modern way. Smooth Sienna limestone and stucco clad the exterior, allowing the black metal roof, windows, doors and accents to pop. Clerestory windows give the design a modern edge and allow ample sunlight to flood the interior.

The inside of the home is designed for entertaining, featuring four bedrooms, four-and-a-half bathrooms, a study, a game room, a wet bar and an open-concept great room. “Over the years, Burdick has been known for their detail in construction finishes, and that can be seen in this contemporary clean-lined home,” said Monika Morris, Vice President of Design. While the home is sleek and modern, natural materials give it a welcoming feel, including wood flooring, floor-to-ceiling windows and beautiful stonework. “The kitchen is a real showpiece,” said Morris. A 48” six-burner Wolf® gas stove, a 30” Sub-Zero® freezer and 30” fridge, Wolf high-quality ovens and a warming drawer allow cooks of all skill levels to entertain friends and family. But, of course, the real star of the show is Cordillera Ranch’s incredible views of the Texas Hill Country. In addition to having an interior design degree, Morris’ experience in architecture and product knowledge is invaluable in working with buyers and architects. Burdick clients appreciate her excellent sense of scale, balance and symmetry in all aspects of design and finish out.

Burdick Custom Homes’ portfolio showcases a variety of beautifully designed homes that mix styles, locally sourced materials and quality craftsmanship. This home is no exception and has the advantage of being in Cordillera Ranch, one of the most sought-after areas with its Club amenities, natural serenity and proximity to San Antonio.

Challenges. Opportunities. Moving Forward.

Fall has been a busy season for the Agronomy team. This important season kicks off after all the fun of the Ladies’ Ranch Roundup, when we begin our greens aerification process. At the conclusion of this process in October, we have now seen the extraordinary benefit of the deep vertical slicing (Graden device) coupled with the normal aerification of punching holes and backfilling with sand.

Bees and Golf Courses

A long-standing interest of mine has been the benefits of using honey and bee keeping. I have enjoyed honey since I was a child and there are many benefits of having honey in your diet. Honey contains a variety of nutrients, it’s rich in antioxidants and is better for blood sugar levels than regular sugar. Research has shown it to promote heart health, promote burn and wound healing, and help suppress coughing with children.

Ever since I can remember, I’ve been around the game of golf. From watching golf tournaments on TV with my family to going out to the driving range with my dad during my High School years while on the Golf Team, everything I associate with golf has been positive. I decided to attend the University of the Incarnate Word and major in Fashion Merchandising with a concentration in Business. Fusing both my passion for fashion and love for the game of golf, the golf merchandising path was the perfect path for me.
