While Paul Allen Custom Homes may be Cordillera’s most recent addition to our Preferred Builders, he’s no stranger to the Ranch.

What makes a Preferred Builder? Being designated a Cordillera Ranch Preferred Builder is no easy feat. These builders showcase a sterling long-term reputation, expert craftsmanship, personalized service and a comprehensive understanding of the Cordillera Ranch Covenants and Design Guidelines. Selecting a Preferred Builder increases your opportunity for a seamless home building experience, an unsurpassed finished product that will be enjoyed for years to come and a higher resale value.

Paul Allen Custom Homes’ reputation and ongoing success earned them this recent distinction, but they’ve been well-acquainted with the Cordillera Ranch community for years. Paul Allen and his team have been building custom homes in the Texas Hill Country since 1984. With over 37 years of experience, this group knows how to guide every client through the home building process, from the first consultation to move-in day. “Paul Allen has been a luxury homebuilding fixture for many years in the north San Antonio area and has completed numerous beautiful homes in Cordillera Ranch as well,” notes Charlie Hill, President of Cordillera Ranch Development. “They share the passion we have for meticulous details and prioritize quality over quantity; they’ll fit in quite well with the acclaimed group of Preferred Builders we’re proud to have in the community,” adds Hill.

“We have been concentrating on luxury Hill Country builds since day one and have been building beautiful homes in Cordillera Ranch for decades,” says President and Founder Paul Allen. “Building in the Hill Country is a unique experience. Our team plans fully custom designs from the ground up, accounting for topography, trees, views, road access, utilities, drainage and more. As an avid sailor, I take special care in selecting the ideal placement for every home myself — paying close attention to the prevailing winds and sun exposure. This is the level of detail we take to ensure maximum enjoyment and satisfaction from the property.

“We only recently earned our Preferred Builder status in Cordillera Ranch because we were previously invested in other Hill Country neighborhoods,” explains Allen. “However, we have always had an appreciation for the amazing community the Cordillera Ranch development team has created. We’ve not only built first homes for our clients here, but have the pleasure of building again for residents like Dawn and Ron Murray who selected a stunning hilltop setting for their new home. My wife Silvia and I have been members of the Club for many years, enjoying all of the amenities this community offers and have really gotten to know many residents.”

Like the Murrays, more than 30 clients have come back to Paul Allen Custom Homes to design and build their next home, speaking to the ease of service and quality designs this team carries through. “We are constantly evolving to deliver the most superior build possible,” says Allen. “Blending new building technologies with authentic designs allows us to create dream homes that require less maintenance and deliver more enjoyment. Silvia and I build a new home for ourselves every two years or so, and each time I test new products and materials. I want to see firsthand how my builds stand up to daily life so that I can pass the best options on to my clients.”

Paul Allen Custom Home’s latest build in Cordillera Ranch is their “Highpoint” Model Home in Cordillera Ridge, one of the highest points in the community. This modern retreat in the hills takes full advantage of uninterrupted panoramic views of the Texas Hill Country and boasts the latest luxury finishes. “This is one of my favorite homes to date,” says Allen. “You can see over 20 miles from this peak and take in all the beauty of nature right from the pool.” This spacious home designed in the Organic Modern style, includes a four-car garage, an open-concept great room and chef’s kitchen, a separate caterer’s kitchen, five bedrooms, a party room, two covered patios, an outdoor kitchen and a luxurious primary suite. All of the entertaining spaces wrap around a stunning custom pool. “The primary bedroom has everything you could ask for,” adds Allen. “It includes a massive closet with dressing island, access to the patio, a coffee bar, dual sinks and toilets, and a free-standing tub that looks out over the edge of the hill. When you’re in that tub, it feels like you are taking a bath in the sky.”

This model home designed for luxury and entertaining features lavish finishes to complement the outstanding amenities. The modern lines of the exterior are highlighted with smooth limestone tile, a black finish window package and durable Ipe wood to tie the contemporary structure back to nature. The interior is flooded with natural light from clerestory windows that accentuate interesting ceiling angles, and the adjoining covered patio is accented with a glass cupula. Floor-to-ceiling windows highlight the stunning views that the home design was based around. The gourmet kitchen is outfitted with a Wolf® appliance package, and Sub-Zero® wine towers store perfectly chilled wines at the bar. Hand-selected wood floors run through the home, adding a warm tone to the sleek design.

The Paul Allen team believes passion fuels quality. “We put authenticity and passion into every build to deliver the best quality finish,” explains Allen. “In many ways, our principles are very much aligned with those of Cordillera Ranch. Just as Cordillera has dedicated itself to developing a beautiful community, our team devotes itself to crafting beautiful homes to live in. We are humbled to be a part of the Cordillera Ranch Preferred Builder program, and we look forward to being a part of a community we can grow with.”

Challenges. Opportunities. Moving Forward.

Fall has been a busy season for the Agronomy team. This important season kicks off after all the fun of the Ladies’ Ranch Roundup, when we begin our greens aerification process. At the conclusion of this process in October, we have now seen the extraordinary benefit of the deep vertical slicing (Graden device) coupled with the normal aerification of punching holes and backfilling with sand.

Bees and Golf Courses

A long-standing interest of mine has been the benefits of using honey and bee keeping. I have enjoyed honey since I was a child and there are many benefits of having honey in your diet. Honey contains a variety of nutrients, it’s rich in antioxidants and is better for blood sugar levels than regular sugar. Research has shown it to promote heart health, promote burn and wound healing, and help suppress coughing with children.

Ever since I can remember, I’ve been around the game of golf. From watching golf tournaments on TV with my family to going out to the driving range with my dad during my High School years while on the Golf Team, everything I associate with golf has been positive. I decided to attend the University of the Incarnate Word and major in Fashion Merchandising with a concentration in Business. Fusing both my passion for fashion and love for the game of golf, the golf merchandising path was the perfect path for me.
