Join our Club staff as we visit beautiful Costa Rica and its outstanding Los Sueños Resort and Marina. Costa Rica is really a wonderful vacation destination. With one of the oldest and most stable democracies in the Americas, Costa Rica is relatively close to the U.S. and includes clean, uncrowded beaches; a happy, friendly population; and beautiful scenery. If you’re looking for a great fall vacation getaway, Costa Rica is the perfect choice. With ideal accommodations, adventure experiences and relaxation, what more could you ask for?

“Pura Vida” — The Good Life

Costa Rica is not only rich is biodiversity, it’s rich in culture and in happiness. According to the Happy Planet Index, Costa Rica is the greenest and happiest country in the entire world, by a substantial lead.

There is a saying in Costa Rica: “Pura Vida.” It means “the pure life” or “the good life.” You can say it as a greeting or as a response to, “How are you?” It sums up just about everything you need to know about the Costa Rican people and Costa Rica in general.

Los Sueños Resort and Marina is a hotspot for both inshore and offshore fishing. Costa Rica’s waters literally teen with big game: dorado averaging 40lbs, yellowfin tuna that push the 300lb mark and one of the largest concentrations of big Pacific sailfish found anywhere. In fact, Costa Rica boasts one of the healthiest billfish fisheries in the world, with 20-fish days being a common occurrence. Unusually calm waters and short rides to the fishing grounds cement the country’s place at the top of the big game fishing destinations.

Those in search of an unforgettable sport fishing experience need to look no further than Los Sueños Marina, home to an extensive charter fleet certified by the Costa Rican Ministry of Tourism. It is not just the offshore fishing that is good in this area, the inshore fishing offers a great opportunity for 50lb+ roosterfish and 40lb+ dorado. You can try your hand at trying to catch these on a fly rod as well as regular spinning rods. This area is one of the most consistent fishing grounds year-round and therefore attracts some of the world’s most passionate anglers.

The resort also offers golf. The La Iguana Golf Course features 18 championship holes with a 73.4 course rating, par-72 and slope 145. Playing the exotic 6,698-yard, Ted Robinson-designed golf course in Costa Rica would be any golfer’s dream. The naturally challenging layout will please players of all skill levels. The golf course is richly landscaped to include exotic native plants, banana trees and orchids, and is home to monkeys and more than 150 species of birds and local wildlife.

This exclusive Cordillera Ranch Signature Vacation is planned for our members and their guests, and accommodates a minimum of eight participants and a maximum of 12. For more information or to reserve your spot, contact Shane Reynolds.

Birding in Cordillera Ranch

Bird watching can be a joyful experience. The sounds of birds frolicking outside your Cordillera Ranch home can be a great addition to your garden and landscape. Bird feeders are the quickest and easiest way to attract our winged friends to your yard. If you have ever visited the Outfitter Center at Cordillera Ranch, you’ll have no doubt about how much I enjoy feeding birds and having them around the entire year.

Manager's Message

Wow, what a time of year!

Spring never disappoints, with warmer weather, longer days and prettier everything, it’s easy to feel a sense of rejuvenation and rebirth during these splendid months. While we’re only a handful of months into the year, and there’s a feeling of a fresh start, it also feels as though some things are coming to conclusion.

Play-A-Hole #7

The 7th hole at Cordillera Ranch is our second Par-3 that you will encounter and can look pretty daunting from the tee. The green slopes away from you and to the right while being guarded by a large bunker on the front/right side and a couple of bunkers on the left side. In case you thought long was safe … it’s not — there’s another bunker there, too!
