Lights, Markets & Music – Boerne’s Holiday Highlights

Boerne might be a small Texas town but the folks who live here celebrate the holidays in a big way. The holiday extravaganzas with spectacular lighting displays, entertainment and a two-month-long calendar of events fitting for all ages, draw visitors from around Texas. Here’s a round-up of holiday activities in Boerne to keep you busy until the New Year.

Festival of Trees :: Friends of the Boerne Public Library

Holiday trees and wreaths in a variety of themes are displayed and auctioned at the Boerne Public Library for this annual event where Boerne businesses and individuals sponsor each decoration and local organizations benefit from the sales. The silent auction takes place on November 22 and lucky winners take home their fully decorated trees and wreaths for the holiday season the next day. This year, proceeds benefit the library. 

Old West Christmas Light Fest :: Enchanted Springs Ranch
Thursdays-Sundays Nov. 28 – Dec.15,

Light displays surround you on the drive into an Old West town. Whether it’s walking through light tunnels, visiting with Santa and his Holly Jolly Herd, playing a game of laser tag, testing your skills in an Old West Escape Room, or navigating your way through a light maze, it will be a night to remember. Scavenger hunts, cookie decorating, Painting With A Twist, live music, beer and wine, and s’mores by the campfire round out each evening.

Christmas on the Ranch :: Don Strange Ranch
Thursday-Sunday, Nov. 28 – Dec. 23, 
6:00 to 10:00pm

The all-new Christmas on the Ranch features over 3 million dazzling lights, food, fun and photo opportunities with Santa. Why walk when you can ride? Drive-thru in your own vehicle or hop on a hayride.

Dickens on Main :: Boerne Main Street
Nov. 29 – 30, 4:00 to 10:00pm
Free and open to the public

Celebrating 20 years of holiday cheer, the annual Thanksgiving weekend event will feature old favorites and new surprises. As always, snow along Main Street is in the forecast, while ice sculpture battles, live music on both nights, theatrical performances, wandering street performers, visits with Santa, kids’ crafts, food trucks and vendors will entertain revelers of all ages. Parade of Lights :: Various locations around Boerne

Free and open to the public

The Boerne community really gets into the holiday spirit! Businesses and residences around town deck the halls with extravagant lighting displays for the public to view. Sponsored by Boerne Parks and Rec, judging takes place December 10-11 and a map will be available on their website. Bundle up, hop in the car and enjoy the light show!

A Walk in Bethlehem :: St. Helena’s Episcopal Church
Dec. 3 – 4, Performances at 6:00 & 7:30pm
Free and open to the public

Take a step back in time as you walk through the little town of Bethlehem. Enter the marketplace bustling with activity, enjoy samples from the baker’s shop, marvel at the potter’s, carpenter’s and basket weaver’s crafts and listen for the rumor of a king’s birth. The highlight of the event will be the arrival of the Christ child and a traditional nativity scene including camels and Magi.

 

Weinachts Parade :: Boerne Main Street
Dec. 7, 6:00pm
Free and open to the public

The Weihnachts Parade is a long-standing Boerne Christmas tradition with 2019 marking the 33rd anniversary. Up to 100 lighted parade floats from Boerne and surrounding communities travel Main Street, from Frederick Street to River Road.

Boerne Performing Arts :: Champion Auditorium

The 5 Browns are returning to Boerne for a special Christmas concert presented by Boerne Performing Arts. The five piano-playing siblings are known for their eclectic range of music from classical piano compositions to movie soundtracks. On this holiday tour, they will be playing songs from their new Christmas album.

With a combination of dynamic acoustics and nature’s beautiful backdrop, both performers and guests declare concerts in the Cave Throne Room to be memorable experiences. Four holiday shows include seductive tango music, an a capella quartet, an eclectic collection of holiday music and three tenors to ring in the New Year.
