A Toast to Texas Spirits and Rare Finds

We made it through “Wet January” — yep, that’s what members were calling it this year. Definitely more fun than “Dry January,” and Jerick, Josh, Catilin and Kala would agree — ice teas and bartenders don’t go together. There’s nothing quite like enjoying great drinks and even better company with friends here at the Club, all while sipping on a cocktail made with love just for you. Now that we’ve “shaken” off the winter chill, we’re excited to share what’s coming up next.
Breck and the team have been hard at work, brainstorming and researching new offerings to keep things fresh on the bar menus. This spring, we’re rolling out something truly special — A Texas Spirits takeover cocktail menu that highlights some of the best local distilleries from across the area. It all started last fall during our Texas Whiskey Shootout event, where we received rave reviews and saw so much excitement around these distilleries. We thought, why not bring them to our cocktail menus? So, both Axis and Twin Sisters will feature a menu dedicated to Texas Distilleries, each cocktail crafted with locally sourced ingredients as the heart and soul of the drink.
What makes this even better is the opportunity for our members to explore these unique cocktails and hear the stories behind each one. We’ll be featuring spirits from:
- Milam & Greene, Blanco, TX
- Devils River, San Antonio, TX
- Garrison Brothers, Hye, TX
- Rebecca Creek, San Antonio, TX
- Ranger Creek, San Antonio, TX
- Surtierra Tequila, San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo Tequila
But here’s where it gets really exciting: we’re also planning field trips to a few of these distilleries in the coming months. For those who want to dive deeper into the world of Texas spirits, this is your chance to learn, taste, and get a behind-the-scenes look at the craft.
So, we hope you’ll come out to try these new cocktails, crafted by Breck and the bar team, and share in the spirit of Texas! Join us on March 2nd for the debut of the new menu, just in time for Texas Independence Day. Come and take it!
In addition to the Texas Spirits takeover, Breck and the bar team are thrilled about some rare gems they recently secured from this year’s highly anticipated allocated bourbon list. In late December, we received a call from our local “guy” — let’s call him “Santa” — asking what we’d be interested in. Naturally, the bar team was buzzing with excitement. It might as well have been Christmas morning! And for those who know their bourbons, you understand why this is such a big deal. Texas whiskey doesn’t cut it for you, so we’re raising the bar with these hard-to-find bourbon treasures.
Here’s what we were able to secure this year (and trust me, next year’s Pappy lineup is already in the works):
- George T. Stagg – ask Breck see if he’s telling the truth
- Thomas Handy
- Weller 12
- Weller Full Proof
- EH Taylor Small Batch
- EH Taylor Barrel Proof
- EH Taylor Straight Rye
- Stagg
- Elmer T. Lee
- Blanton Gold
- Midwinter Dram
- Dickel 17
- Old Overholt 11 yr
- WhistlePig Piggybank
So, come by, treat yourself, and enjoy these rare finds. There’s nothing quite like sipping great bourbon.
