AWARDS (FOR SPORTS)
I have won numerous medals and high point honors as a competitive swimmer with the Alamo Area Aquatics Association during the past seven years. Swimming with the Boerne Champion High School swim team I was the first Boerne freshman to compete at State and represented Champion there each year. I hold CHS records for the 500 yard freestyle and the 100 yard butterfly. I am particularly proud of receiving the MVP and high point awards in my senior year. I was recently named to the San Antonio Express-News All-Area Team for the second consecutive year.

ACADEMIC ACCOMPLISHMENTS
I have received the Academic Recognition Award and President’s Award for Outstanding Academic Excellence each year at Champion and am a College Board Advanced Placement Scholar.

WHAT COLLEGE DO YOU PLAN TO ATTEND?
I received a nomination to the U. S. Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point, N.Y. by Sen. John Cornyn and have been accepted by the Academy.

WHY DID YOU CHOOSE THIS COLLEGE?
Although I am looking forward to the opportunity to swim for the USMMA team, the Academy offers a four-year academic program leading to a Bachelor of Science degree and a license as a merchant marine officer or an appointment as a commissioned officer in any of the military services.

GOALS FOR COLLEGE?
I’m looking forward to the demanding curriculum that is not only designed to ensure my professional competency, but provide training for leadership and responsibility.

SUBJECT YOU PLAN TO MAJOR IN?
I plan to major in Marine Transportation, but I’m also open to Computer Systems major.

FUTURE ASPIRATIONS?
I hope to be able to live in a place much like Cordillera Ranch after a successful career.

INTERESTS?
I’m very interested in History, and I like to read quite a bit.

WHAT WILL YOU MISS MOST ABOUT BOERNE?
I will definitely miss all of my friends, but I think I will miss the good food around here.

IF YOU COULD MEET ONE PERSON DEAD OR ALIVE, WHO WOULD IT BE AND WHAT WOULD YOU ASK THEM?
I would like to meet Bill Gates and ask him how it feels to be a genius.

In this edition, I was assigned the daunting task of coming up with five wines that everybody should have in their cellar. My mind searched through the thousands of bottles that I have ever tasted, and then the tens of thousands of wines that I have researched throughout my career.
