Tennis, Anyone?

2020 tennis is off to a great start, despite a wet winter that delayed some events at the Tennis Club. In January we hosted a Ladies Boot Camp and a Junior Play Day, and we look forward to a Mardi Gras Tennis and Pickleball Play Day on February 28, as well as Spring Break play in the All-Star Sports Camp.

Cordillera Ranch Tennis Club Ladies Boot Camp

On January 9 and 10, Cordillera Ranch Tennis Club hosted its Second Annual Ladies Tennis Boot Camp. The two-day Boot Camp was a high-energy, two-hour clinic with drills, play-based games and some match play. Some of our members play on USTA teams, some play in fun leagues and others just wanted to burn some calories and work on their game. Participants had a chance to work with different pros as they rotated courts to work on a variety of skills. This year we also featured our Fitness Director Jane Riley as she introduced our tennis players to the TRX and Rip Trainer as one of our court rotations. It was a great two-day workout and we look forward to another in the fall. Thank you to all who participated

Cordillera Ranch Tennis Club Back-to-School Junior Play Day

Cordillera Ranch Tennis Club hosted our first Back-to-School Junior Play Day on a gorgeous Sunday afternoon, January 26. We had twenty-one kids of all ages and levels participate. The Play Day consisted of two hours of drills and games on multiple courts. After the games, the group got to hit for targets on the prize court. Prizes included hats, towels, grips, t-shirts and tennis balls. When the prize court was completed, the kids enjoyed pizza and chocolate chip cookies on the Tennis Club patio. It was a great day for the kids at the Cordillera Ranch Tennis Club!

Play-A-Hole #7

The 7th hole at Cordillera Ranch is our second Par-3 that you will encounter and can look pretty daunting from the tee. The green slopes away from you and to the right while being guarded by a large bunker on the front/right side and a couple of bunkers on the left side. In case you thought long was safe … it’s not — there’s another bunker there, too!
