Autumn Porter

The Boerne Brewery is introducing a new seasonal brew inspired by traditional fall flavors. This sweet potato porter is made with yams and pumpkin pie spices but don’t be fooled — this doesn’t taste like dessert — it’s very much a beer with a background of sweet potato flavoring. Named “Geist der Berg,” or “Ghost of the Hill,” local artist Alexis Souza is designing the label based on ironwork at Boerne Cemetery, and an early-October release date is expected. Find it at all the local Boerne haunts where other Boerne Brewery labels can be found. If you want a sneak peak, they will be pouring samples, along with about 11 other local brewers, at Textember Fest at Kerrville’s Grape Juice restaurant, September 12th. Visit their website for a complete list of retailers.

Annual Ducktoberfest

In honor of Oktoberfest, The Dodging Duck is bringing back their craft beer Ducktoberfest. This lager is an annual favorite that been around a while — and it’s no wonder — it won a silver medal in the 2002 World Beer Championships. Mildly hopped, this beer is on the mellow side, making it a perfect pairing to a number of beer snacks and German-style sausages, and its pale harvest orange coloring is perfectly seasonal. The Dodging Duck always has at least four of their craft brews on tap. Look for Ducktoberfest in early-October.

Bird watching can be a joyful experience. The sounds of birds frolicking outside your Cordillera Ranch home can be a great addition to your garden and landscape. Bird feeders are the quickest and easiest way to attract our winged friends to your yard. If you have ever visited the Outfitter Center at Cordillera Ranch, you’ll have no doubt about how much I enjoy feeding birds and having them around the entire year.

Manager's Message

Wow, what a time of year!

Spring never disappoints, with warmer weather, longer days and prettier everything, it’s easy to feel a sense of rejuvenation and rebirth during these splendid months. While we’re only a handful of months into the year, and there’s a feeling of a fresh start, it also feels as though some things are coming to conclusion.

Play-A-Hole #7

The 7th hole at Cordillera Ranch is our second Par-3 that you will encounter and can look pretty daunting from the tee. The green slopes away from you and to the right while being guarded by a large bunker on the front/right side and a couple of bunkers on the left side. In case you thought long was safe … it’s not — there’s another bunker there, too!
