2018 C-Star Member-Guest Recap

What a great finish to the C-Star Men’s Member-Guest. Larry Harper and his guest Scott Lewis from Dominion Country Club won the championship with a great finish in the Shoot-Out.

It looked like Larry Harper and Scott Lewis were in trouble on the 5th hole of the Shoot-Out until Scott Lewis holed a wedge shot from 60 yards to make par to advance to the final hole. Barry Denton and his brother Brett Denton defeated Chris Hill and his guest Chris Mathis on the 5th hole of the Shoot-Out when a chip off was needed to determine who would advance to the final hole. Chris Hill hit a great chip to about 10 feet and Brett Denton hit an incredible chip to about 6 feet to advance. On the final hole, Larry Harper and Scott Lewis defeated Barry Denton and Brett Denton to capture the C-Star Championship and secure their names on the Champions Rock.

Congratulations again to Larry Harper and Scott Lewis and to all the Flight Winners. Thank you to everyone who played and supported the C-Star, and we are looking forward to next year’s event.

Challenges. Opportunities. Moving Forward.

Fall has been a busy season for the Agronomy team. This important season kicks off after all the fun of the Ladies’ Ranch Roundup, when we begin our greens aerification process. At the conclusion of this process in October, we have now seen the extraordinary benefit of the deep vertical slicing (Graden device) coupled with the normal aerification of punching holes and backfilling with sand.

Bees and Golf Courses

A long-standing interest of mine has been the benefits of using honey and bee keeping. I have enjoyed honey since I was a child and there are many benefits of having honey in your diet. Honey contains a variety of nutrients, it’s rich in antioxidants and is better for blood sugar levels than regular sugar. Research has shown it to promote heart health, promote burn and wound healing, and help suppress coughing with children.

Ever since I can remember, I’ve been around the game of golf. I decided to attend the University of the Incarnate Word and major in Fashion Merchandising with a concentration in Business. Fusing both my passion for fashion and love for the game of golf, the golf merchandising path was the perfect path for me.
