A longtime Cordillera Ranch preferred builder, Stadler Custom Homes of San Antonio brings more than two decades of knowledge and expertise in a variety of styles including contemporary, traditional, eclectic, French country, transitional, Mediterranean and more.
Farmhouse is a winning combination of clean lines, neutral palette and simplicity of design, says Brittany Mayberry, sales and marketing for Stadler Custom Homes. “It’s a timeless trend that doesn’t require decking out with an entire farmhouse catalog. We used modern, high-end finishes and fixtures that can be updated over time while staying true to the friendly, inviting nature of farmhouse style.”
The one-story, 3,702-square-foot beauty boasts four bedrooms, four-and-a-half baths and a three-car garage, all topped by a durable and streamlined dark metal standing seam roof. The exterior is a mix of natural and manmade materials, including rock that was mostly sourced from Austin area quarries says Mayberry. Beige stone is a Texas Blend Limestone cut in six-, eight-, and ten-inch blocks accented by light-colored stucco, making the black-framed aluminum windows “really ‘pop’ against the light colors,” says Mayberry. Project architect is San Antonio architectural firm A Design by Gustavo Arredondo.
Exterior accents include cedar posts and front window shutters, and painted shiplap — all farmhouse-style staples. Because the 1.40-acre corner lot faces two streets, the three-car garage faces one street and the elegant circle drive faces the front.
A light, bright open floor plan of living/dining/kitchen is accented by exposed cedar beams and hand-scraped hickory floors that lend warmth to a space where abundant natural light streams through large windows and fixed transom windows. A focal point is a woodburning fireplace with brick interior and quartzite hearth framed by a surround of white painted shiplap all the way to the ceiling. Operable windows open outward, a “very European farmhouse look,” says Mayberry, “along with European style lighting fixtures.”
A bonus flex room off the open floor plan with barn doors stands ready to be transformed into a study, formal dining room, playroom or guest room, complete with walk-in closet and access to a powder bath.
Fabulous features shine in the gourmet kitchen, with perimeter countertops in Onyx Carrara quartz and kitchen island topped with Carrara Axtrix. Painted wood custom cabinetry features soft-close doors in full overlay European style that conceals hinges. Stainless Thermador® appliances include a double oven with six-burner range and griddle, two-panel refrigerator/freezer, dishwasher and microwave. A full farmhouse sink and a smaller veggie sink in the island connects triangles between range, refrigerator and sinks, providing an easy, logical flow for cooking and cleaning. The range with eye-catching backsplash in American Olean Genuine Stone in Smoke Chevron shares that wall with a generous walk-in pantry; a nearby smaller overhead cabinet gives easy access to frequently-used items.
The utility room door pays whimsical homage to vintage farmhouse style with the word “Laundry” painted on the glass and a creative sheetrock ceiling treatment.
Ultimate indulgence reigns in the master bedroom with an outside door to a private patio, perfect for morning coffee or an afternoon break, with stepping stones leading to the pool and hot tub. The house itself is adjacent to a neighborhood walking trail for an invigorating run or leisurely stroll.
Indulgence continues in the master bath with his-and-her vanities and a makeup vanity niche highlighted in gray painted shiplap echoed at the opposite end around the Lindsey acrylic freestanding tub from Signature Hardware. Floor tile is Torino Gray from Stone Solutions in a diagonal installation. Each of the three secondary bedrooms also has its own en suite shower bath with a self-contained walk-in closet so that one door leads to both.
The patio is perfect for everyday family living and entertaining, with an outdoor kitchen and seating area. The ceiling, says Mayberry, “is a cost-effective, prefabricated material in a tongue-and-groove installation and comes in a variety of colors.” Flagstone coping is used around the pool and hot tub.
Energy efficient features include aluminum double pane low-E, thermally broken windows; recessed can LED lighting throughout the house; and foam insulation in walls, attic and the entire roofline.
Stadler Custom Homes prides itself on customer happiness from the ground up. “We have built more than 60 homes in Cordillera Ranch,” says Mayberry, “and are familiar with the soil, topography, types of foundations, placement on the lot and more.” They guide clients every step of the way either face-to-face or through collaborative technology, remaining laser-focused on superior craftsmanship, legendary attention to detail and an unparalleled history of excellence in home building. “We will make sure your home maintains the style you want while staying within your budget.”
