What is TPI?
The Titleist Performance Institute is part of the Acushnet Company’s Oceanside Test Facility. Since 2003, TPI has studied thousands of golfers ranging from tour players to average golfers. TPI gathered important data of all golfers with various shapes, sizes, ages and fitness levels. From this data, TPI has created a systematic golf-screening program to determine one’s physical limitations that may lead to swing faults and mid-swing compensations. These physical limitations may also cause an injury if not addressed. TPI-prescribed exercises are designed to address physical limitations and swing flaws to improve their golf game.

TPI Junior Golf Program focuses on the development of a junior golfer through fitness. Our goal for the junior golfer is to first develop fundamental movement skills and establish functional movement patterns to teach golf-specific skills. The strength and flexibility of the juniors will also be tested and improved to prevent injury.

Where Do You Spend Your Time?

I recently read a story retold by the father of a young family of three that included himself, his wife and their young daughter. According to his recounting, after dinner they were each challenged to share an object symbolic of how they would describe one another to a stranger. When it was the daughter’s turn to share the item she thought to be representative of her father, she produced a cell phone. At her young age, she wasn’t taking a sarcastic “shot” at her dad, rather, it was how she truly saw him when he was home.
